Senior Backend Engineer (NestJS)

Build scalable APIs and microservices for our marketplace platform connecting artisans across continents.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement RESTful APIs with NestJS and TypeScript
- Architect microservices for payment, inventory, and order management
- Optimize database queries (PostgreSQL, Redis) for high performance
- Collaborate with frontend and product teams on feature delivery
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews
Requirements
- 5+ years backend development experience
- Expert in Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, and message queues
- Experience with AWS or GCP cloud infrastructure
- Fluent in English; French is a plus
Nice to Have
- Experience with e-commerce or marketplace platforms
- Knowledge of Stripe, payment gateways, and compliance
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Understanding of African diaspora markets
